Services renew automatically so that nothing switches off unexpectedly. If you no longer want one, you must tell us – simply not paying the invoice is not a cancellation, and it will take you through the overdue and late fee process first.
How to cancel
Log in to the client area, go to My Services, choose the service, and use the Request Cancellation option. You will be asked whether you want it to end immediately or at the end of the period you have already paid for.
Immediate or end of term?
- End of term is almost always what you want. The service runs until the date you have paid up to, and then stops. No further invoices are raised.
- Immediate stops it now. Anything still on the account goes with it, and there is no refund for the unused period.
Before you cancel
- Take a full backup and download it. Once the account is removed, the data is gone.
- Move your email if any mailboxes are on the account. Export anything you need to keep.
- Deal with the domain separately. Cancelling hosting does not cancel a domain registration, and cancelling a domain is not the same as transferring it. If you are moving elsewhere, transfer the domain out before the hosting ends.
Cancelling a domain
A domain cannot be un-registered; it can only be left to expire or transferred away. If you want to keep it but move it, request the transfer code from us and start the transfer at your new registrar before the renewal date.
If something has gone wrong
If you are cancelling because of a problem, please tell us what it is. We would rather fix it, and if we cannot, we would still rather know why.
